Apple PowerBook/DOS Companion
Copyright 1993, Apple Computer, Inc.
The Apple PowerBook/DOS Companion brings four key compatibility products
together in a single package—one that provides the software and cables you
need to make your PowerBook and your MS-DOS or Windows computer work
together. Macintosh PC Exchange software from Apple immediately recognizes
MS-DOS, Windows, or OS-2 disks you insert into your PowerBook. DOS
directories appear as folder icons, and files appear as document icons.
You can work with them just as you would with any other Macintosh files.
With the PowerBook/DOS Companion’s version of MacLinkPlus/PC, you can
connect your Macintosh PowerBook to any DOS or Windows-based desktop or
laptop computer. You simply use the individual cable, a diskette, or
your own modem. You can easily transfer and convert files between the
two computers. With more than 700 conversion combinations possible,
you can choose from among the most popular word processing, graphics,
spreadsheet, and database formats. The conversion process keeps the
format of the original document intact.
The PowerBook/DOS Companion has the MacVGA Video Adapter so that with
most VGA monitors and a Power-Book 160 or 180, or with a PowerBook Duo
210 or 230 connected to a Macintosh Duo MiniDock, you can display your
work in 256 colors.
Then, when you’re ready, you can use PowerPrint and your PowerBook
to print text and graphics with your existing printer, whether it’s
a laser, ink-jet, or dot-matrix. In all, the PowerBook/DOS Companion
makes it possible for you to work with more than 1000 different
printers.
